In March 2025, Universal Music India <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/badshah-launches-music-label-pentertainment-0075-with-support-from-universal-music-india1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched<\/a> a new label called <b>Pentertainment<\/b> <b>0075<\/b> in partnership with superstar India-based rapper <b>Badshah<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">UMG first\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/indian-rapper-badshah-inks-exclusive-global-deal-with-universal-music-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">struck<\/a>\u00a0an exclusive global agreement with Badshah in 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Separately, in 2022, Universal Music India took a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/universal-buys-majority-stake-in-india-based-tm-ventures-which-manages-superstars-arijit-singh-and-badshah\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">majority stake<\/a>\u00a0in India-based music and entertainment company <b>TM<\/b> <b>Ventures<\/b>, which manages a roster of artists that includes Badshah.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2025, Universal Music India <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/universal-music-india-inks-partnership-with-maddock-films-and-its-new-music-label-mad-for-mussic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">entered into a strategic partnership<\/a> with <strong>Maddock Films<\/strong>, one of India\u2019s most prolific Hindi film production studios, and its newly formed music label\u00a0<strong>Mad For Mussic<\/strong>, led by founder Dinesh Vijan.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, Universal <a class=\"underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/universal-music-strikes-strategic-partnership-with-india-based-talent-agency-represent\/\">struck a strategic partnership with India-based talent agency REPRESENT<\/a>\u00a0to help introduce Indian music culture to global audiences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In 2021, Universal Music India <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/universal-music-india-launches-new-label-vyrl-punjabi-in-partnership-with-composer-jatinder-shah\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched<\/a> label<b> VYRL Punjabi <\/b>in association with music composer Jatinder Shah. That same year, Universal Music India and <b>Capitol Records<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/universal-music-india-and-capitol-records-team-up-to-push-jason-derulo-re-work-of-teshers-global-hit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> teamed up<\/a> on<b> Jason Derulo<\/b>\u2019s rework of<b> Tesher<\/b>\u2019s global hit, <i>Jalebi Baby,\u00a0<\/i>which was released in 2020.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\">UMG\u2019s investment comes amid the growing appeal of music used in Bollywood films. Last month, India\u2019s oldest music label <strong>Saregama<\/strong> agreed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/saregama-invests-36m-in-bollywood-studio-bhansali-productions-secures-exclusive-music-rights-for-future-films\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">invest<\/a> <strong>3.25 billion Indian rupees<\/strong> ($36m) in <strong>Bhansali Productions<\/strong> through a multi-stage acquisition that could eventually give it majority control of the Bollywood movie studio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Indian film director\u00a0<b>Sanjay Navin Bhansali<\/b>\u00a0(professionally known as Sanjay Leela Bhansali) founded Bhansali Productions in 1996. The studio is known for films like\u00a0<i>Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999)\u00a0<\/i>and<i>\u00a0Devdas (2002).
