{"id":251713,"date":"2026-02-25T11:41:49","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T11:41:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/?p=251713"},"modified":"2026-02-25T11:41:49","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T11:41:49","slug":"grammy-winner-shaboozey-signs-publishing-deal-with-empire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/grammy-winner-shaboozey-signs-publishing-deal-with-empire\/","title":{"rendered":"Grammy winner Shaboozey signs publishing deal with EMPIRE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grammy-Award winning singer-songwriter Shaboozey has signed a publishing deal with EMPIRE Publishing, extending his relationship with the independent company beyond its recorded music business.<\/p>\n<p>The deal follows the commercial breakthrough of <strong>Shaboozey\u2019s<\/strong> RIAA Diamond-certified single<em> A Bar Song (Tipsy)<\/em> and his RIAA Gold-certified album <em>Where I\u2019ve Been, Isn\u2019t Where I\u2019m Going<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>According to <strong>EMPIRE<\/strong>, the single holds the record for the longest-leading No. 1 on the <em>Billboard Hot 100<\/em>, while also topping <em>Billboard\u2019s Hot Country Songs<\/em> chart. The publishing agreement was led by <strong>Vinny Kumar<\/strong>, recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/vinny-kumar-promoted-to-president-of-empire-publishing-as-pubco-expands-into-africa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appointed<\/a> President of <strong>EMPIRE<\/strong> Publishing, alongside <strong>Eric Hurt<\/strong>, SVP of A&amp;R at <strong>EMPIRE<\/strong>, who signed the artist to the label.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2025, the artist and <strong>EMPIRE<\/strong> teamed up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/shaboozey-and-empire-form-new-label-american-dogwood-with-kevin-powers-as-first-signing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launch<\/a> the independent imprint <strong>American Dogwood<\/strong>, described as being inspired by the culture and traditions of Virginia and the greater Mid-Atlantic.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As great of an artist as Shaboozey is, he\u2019s equally as talented as a songwriter; constantly striving to write the most compelling, story-driven songs that reach a broad and diverse audience.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Eric Hurt, EMPIRE<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In a statement, <strong>Hurt<\/strong> said: \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to expand our partnership with Shaboozey in this publishing deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs great of an artist as Shaboozey is, he\u2019s equally as talented as a songwriter; constantly striving to write the most compelling, story-driven songs that reach a broad and diverse audience.
