Last year, AI-generated tracks with titles mimicking Tyler, the Creator&#8217;s<em> Don&#8217;t Tap the Glass<\/em> album <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/tyler-creator-ai-deepfake\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flooded Spotify and TikTok<\/a> ahead of its official release, with a fake version briefly holding the number two spot under the album name on Spotify.<\/p>\n<p>Father John Misty and Jeff Tweedy were among a wave of Americana and folk artists <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/10\/27\/nx-s1-5587852\/spotify-ai-music-fakes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">targeted by AI-generated fakes<\/a> uploaded to their profiles without consent.<\/p>\n<p>And after King Gizzard &amp; the Lizard Wizard <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/future-society\/king-gizzard-spotify-ai-knockoff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">removed their catalog from Spotify<\/a> last year, an AI-generated copycat called &#8220;King Lizard Wizard&#8221; appeared on the platform with songs using identical titles and lyrics before being taken down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">Spotify says that when this happens, &#8220;it can impact your catalog, your stats, your Release Radar, and how fans discover your music,&#8221; adding that more control over incoming releases has been &#8220;one of the top requests we&#8217;ve heard from artists over the past year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Open-access distribution channels have lowered the barrier for independent artists to share music with the world, promote collaborations easily, and transfer music between distributors seamlessly,&#8221; says Spotify. &#8220;But that openness comes with gaps that bad actors can exploit.&#8221;<\/p>\n      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #1\" data-params=\"dfp_spu1\" id=\"dfp_spu1\"><\/div>      <\/div>      \n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">The streaming platform describes Artist Profile Protection as a &#8220;first-of-its-kind&#8221; solution, offering artists a proactive layer of control on top of existing reporting tools. But that openness comes with gaps that bad actors can exploit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Spotify<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The new pilot arrives a week after it emerged that <a class=\"link-relationship\" title=\"Companies &gt; Sony [2,307 articles]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/companies\/sony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">So<\/a>n<a class=\"link-relationship\" title=\"Companies &gt; Sony [2,307 articles]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/companies\/sony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">y<\/a>\u00a0Music has asked streaming platforms to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/sony-music-has-targeted-135000-deepfakes-of-its-artists-music-for-removal-from-streaming-platforms\/\">take down<\/a> more than 135,000 songs it says were created by fraudsters using generative AI to impersonate artists on its roster.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the launch of the IFPI&#8217;s<a class=\"link-internal\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/global-recorded-music-revenues-hit-31-7bn-in-2025-up-6-4-yoy-users-of-paid-music-subscriptions-reach-837m\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Global Music Report 2026<\/a> in London last Wednesday (March 18), Dennis Kooker, President, Global Digital Business &amp; US Sales, at Sony Music Entertainment, said the \u201cdeepfakes\u201d cause \u201cdirect commercial harm to legitimate recording artists.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/spotify-has-deleted-75m-spammy-tracks-as-it-unveils-new-ai-music-policies\/\">September<\/a> 2025, <a class=\"link-relationship\" title=\"Companies &gt; Spotify [4,687 articles]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/companies\/spotify\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spotify<\/a> revealed it had removed more than 75 million \u201cspammy tracks\u201d from its platform over the prior 12 months, as it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/spotify-has-deleted-75m-spammy-tracks-as-it-unveils-new-ai-music-policies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced a suite of new policies<\/a> for managing AI-generated content on its service.<\/p>\n<p>And rival platform Deezer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/60000-ai-tracks-hit-deezer-daily-as-platform-moves-to-license-detection-tech-to-wider-music-industry\/\">recently disclosed<\/a> that it was receiving approximately 60,000 fully AI-generated tracks per day \u2014 around 39% of all daily deliveries.<\/p>\n      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #2\" data-params=\"dfp_spu2\" id=\"dfp_spu2\"><\/div>      <\/div>      \n<p>Artists who opt in will receive a notification when music is delivered to their profile and can choose to approve or decline it ahead of release.
