Switzerland-based\u00a0MusicBird<\/a> says it has acquired the master royalty income from Dougie Thomson’s recordings with Supertramp, the British rock band that sold more than 60 million albums since they were formed in 1970.<\/p>\n

The deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, covers Thomson’s contributions to some of the band’s hits, including Goodbye Stranger, Give a Little Bit <\/i>and Breakfast in America. <\/i><\/p>\n

Thomson joined Supertramp<\/b> as a bassist in the 1970s and remained with the band for 15 years until 1988. That run included some of the group’s landmark records, including Crime of the Century<\/i>,\u00a0Crisis? What Crisis?,<\/i>\u00a0Even in the Quietest Moments\u2026<\/i>, and\u00a0Breakfast in America<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Breakfast in America <\/i>won two Grammy Awards, with its lead single The Logical Song<\/i> receiving the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically in 1979.<\/p>\n

The acquisition marks MusicBird\u2019s third in six months after striking deals with Toronto-based R&B artist and production duo Majid Jordan<\/b><\/a> in February and the estate of multi-platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated producer Rick Parashar<\/b><\/a>, described as \u201ca central figure in the 1990s Seattle grunge scene.\u201d<\/p>\n
