Our focus is providing you with more context about artists and their music, so you can build more meaningful connections with them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Spotify<\/strong> <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In January, <strong>Spotify<\/strong> had already <a href=\"https:\/\/support.spotify.com\/us\/artists\/article\/transitioning-verified-to-registered\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">retired its long-standing &#8220;Verified Artist&#8221; blue checkmark<\/a>, which simply indicated that an artist had claimed their profile, and replaced it with a &#8220;Registered Artist&#8221; label.<\/p>\n<p>At the time,\u00a0<strong>Spotify<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.spotify.com\/us\/artists\/article\/transitioning-verified-to-registered\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>\u00a0that &#8220;over time, the term &#8216;verified&#8217; came to suggest more than the checkmark was designed to represent.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The new\u00a0<strong>Verified by Spotify<\/strong> badge now reclaims that language, but applies it to a different, more selective standard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the AI era, it&#8217;s more important than ever to be able to trust the authenticity of the music you listen to,&#8221; The feature, currently in beta, will appear in the <strong>About<\/strong> section on mobile.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Much like nutrition facts offer a quick, reliable snapshot on what&#8217;s inside packaged food, these details \u2014 based on Spotify&#8217;s platform data \u2014 give meaningful signals of an artist&#8217;s authentic activity on Spotify, even for those who haven&#8217;t yet met our Verified by Spotify criteria,&#8221; the company said.<\/p>\n      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #2\" data-params=\"dfp_spu2\" id=\"dfp_spu2\"><\/div>      <\/div>      \n<p>The announcement forms part of a series of measures <strong>Spotify<\/strong> has rolled out in <strong>2026<\/strong> aimed at reinforcing artist identity and transparency as AI tools and AI content proliferate \u2014 from Artist Profile Protection in March, to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/spotify-to-show-ai-tags-in-song-credits-where-artists-have-chosen-to-disclose-through-their-label-or-distributor\/\">AI Credits in Song Credits<\/a> earlier this month, which show listeners where artificial intelligence was used in making a track.<\/p>\n<p>Those features followed <strong>Spotify<\/strong>&#8216;s announcement last October that it would develop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/spotify-to-develop-artist-first-ai-music-products-in-partnership-with-sony-umg-warner-merlin-and-believe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;artist-first&#8221; AI music products<\/a> in partnership with <strong>Sony Music Group<\/strong>, <strong>Universal Music Group<\/strong>, <strong>Warner Music Group<\/strong>, <strong>Merlin<\/strong>, and <strong>Believe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>When Spotify published its\u00a0AI commitments\u00a0<a class=\"link-external\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.spotify.com\/2025-09-25\/spotify-strengthens-ai-protections\/\" rel=\"noopener\">blog post<\/a>\u00a0in September 2025, it noted that it had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/spotify-has-deleted-75m-spammy-tracks-as-it-unveils-new-ai-music-policies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">removed<\/a> more than<strong>\u00a075 million<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cspammy tracks\u201d from its platform over the past year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We know we won&#8217;t get everything right from day one,&#8221;
